Have you got a love of materials and design? Do you want to share your knowledge, advice and opinions with others? Then why don’t you write for us?

Irrespective of whether you are a student, professional designer/materials guru or just a materials and design enthusiast. Material Ocean is currently looking for contributors. It could be as a one off guest author or as a regular contributor. Contact Raph via the form on the contact page for details on how you can be a part of Material Ocean.

Please contact Raph (using the handy form here) and include two to three sentences about yourself, your background (in relation to materials and design), why you want to write for Material Ocean and some ideas on what you are interested in writing about. If you have any examples of your previous writing then please provide a link to them.

What do you get out of writing for Material Ocean?

A few guidelines for harmonious article writing.

  1. Before writing an article, you should consider contacting Raph with your topic idea to get approval for publishing your post (Otherwise you might just waste a lot of time and effort).
  2. Any images you use must be no wider than 600 pixels.
  3. Your guest article on Material Ocean must be previously unpublished and cannot be published afterwards on any other sites including your own. You may use excerpts on your own website.
  4. In order to build a stronger community please reply to comments left on each of your articles and participate in forum discussions related to your article.
  5. Material Ocean reserves the right to set the date of publication.
  6. Material Ocean reserves the right to edit/format the article to match this sites’s writing style.
  7. Material Ocean reserves the right to decline the publication of your article. The reasons will be emailed to the author.

– Review of a materials related book.

Interviews

– An interview with someone who is a professional or guru in the world of materials and has a unique point of view (a designer, material scientist, materials specialist).

Material Resources

– A collection and discussion of resources on materials in design.

Material Histories

– A discussion on the evolution of a material and how it has been used historically versus how it is being used today.
